A fusion of live luscious vocals, sublime saxophones and acoustic guitar over loopz n beatz deliver a fresh mighty sound sharing the universal language of love and groove. Classified in the "nu-jazz" genre Mettaphor incorporate funk bop, folk, jazz and alternative sounds with a clear and meaningful message.
Originally flowing from sunny Queensland, the determined duo (Kaeleen Hunter and Angelika Heinrich) have earned their stripes playing over 3,000 gigs world-wide after huge success at venues, events and festivals in Australia. The enthusiastic gals work with and inspire community groups with their universal funky performances and recording workshops. Mettaphor are inspired by the likes of Miles Davis, Dig, St Germain, Steely Dan, Lauryn Hill, Little Feat, Rita Marley, Soul II Soul and all things groove. Their acoustic singer/songwriter genre is influenced by some the best troubadours of the 90’s yet secretly they desire to morph into a band sounding more like the love child of annie lennox & prince or was it candy dulfer & john Coltrane, hmm nina simone & neville brothers?? You can catch their show at the Valla Beach Tavern on the 24th October at 8pm and the Laurieton Hotel at 2pm Sunday 26th October.
