FREE SOUP FOR NEIGHBOURHOOD CENTRES WEEK
The Nambucca Valley Neighbourhood Centre is offering locals free soup next Thursday (15 May) to celebrate Neighbourhood Centres Week. Coordinator, Paul Sekfy, said today that providing a soup kitchen for a day at the Neighbourhood Centre was both practical and symbolic. "We want people to drop in and say hello to mark the Week, and we want people who just want some soup for lunch to come and have some," he said. "Neighbourhood Centres play a vital role in communities by providing information, support and advocacy to anyone in need. Some people we see may need a hot meal, and certainly we are seeing a lot of people who need assistance with housing," Mr Sekfy said. "We are proud of the 25-year history of our Neighbourhood Centre and our more recent and important Community Centre in Nambucca Heads. We definitely think it worth celebrating these achievements and the massive voluntary effort represented by them," he said. "On behalf of the Management Committee, Volunteers and staff I am extending an invitation to anyone in the Nambucca Shire to come and have some soup with us from 11am to 2pm at the Neighbourhood Centre 27 Wallace Street Macksville, next Thursday," Mr Sekfy said.
