| The Film Society will present ‘Goodbye Lenin’ (2003 Germany). This is a comedy/drama. It takes place in East Berlin in Autumn 1989. Alex Kerner’s mother is in a coma after a heart attack and misses the fall of the Berlin Wall. She awakes in 1990, and her Dr. declares that any excitement could be fatal. Alex must conceal the fall of the GDR regime from her. Alex and his friends pretend that the GDR still exists, the illusion remains perfect until one day they can no longer hide the truth. This clever comedy was the most successful film in Germany in 2003. The Film Society is for members only, but you are welcome to join on the night. |
